Was offered the black dial twice and regret not taking one, but I ended up buying several hard to get Rolex models and can’t buy them all. Starting with the black dial, what jumps out is that the hour, minute, and 24-hour hands are now all white gold. On the Polar version, you'll notice that the hands appear less glossy. Both new versions have a small crown between "Swiss" and "Made" at the 6 .
I got nervous a couple years ago when inaccurate predictions were made about Rolex either changing the bezel to black ceramic, or discontinuing the Explorer II altogether. I was pleasantly surprised when Rolex released the new iterative 226570 version.
